Free MC number lookup
Enter a broker's MC number (or a carrier's DOT number) and see live federal authority data — operating status, insurance on file, safety rating, inspection history. Use it to verify a broker before you haul their load.

Live FMCSA data: authority, insurance, safety, inspections. Free, no signup.
What to look for
- Authority status must be “Authorized.” If it's revoked or pending, don't haul the load.
- Insurance on file — brokers need a surety bond (BMC-84) or trust fund (BMC-85). Cargo insurance is on the carrier, not the broker.
- Safety rating — “Satisfactory” is good, “Conditional” means they're being watched, “Unsatisfactory” is a hard no.
- Out-of-service rate — above 15% for vehicles is a red flag.
Federal carrier records are pulled live for each check; OverTheRoad caches static fields daily for speed.
