Hotshot numbers stay hotshot numbers
Rate estimates are grouped by equipment, so hotshot loads are never mixed with tractor-trailer loads. When there isn't enough hotshot data yet, we say so instead of guessing.
Figures are estimates based on what you upload. General information only — not tax or legal advice.
Questions
Is OverTheRoad.AI built for hotshots or just semis?
Both, plus box trucks. It is one product that changes with what you drive. Tell it you run a hotshot and it starts with a pickup-and-trailer truck profile, a hotshot detention rate, and IFTA reminders only if you are registered.
Does a hotshot need IFTA?
IFTA applies to a qualified motor vehicle: a power unit with two axles over 26,000 lb, a power unit with three or more axles, or a truck and trailer used together that weigh more than 26,000 lb. Many hotshot rigs cross that line, some don't. Confirm with your base state. If you aren't registered, turn IFTA off in Settings and we won't remind you about quarters.
Does it work without a CDL?
Yes. The app doesn't care what license you hold. Whether you need a CDL depends on your truck and trailer ratings — our free guide covers the 26,001 lb line and the 10,001 lb USDOT and medical card line.
Are hotshot rates mixed with semi rates?
No. Rate estimates are grouped by equipment, so hotshot loads are compared only with hotshot loads. When there isn't enough hotshot data yet, it says so instead of guessing.
How much does it cost?
Start free for 30 days with no card. Plans and prices are on the pricing page. You keep a free account after the trial.
Is the truck map free?
Yes — the live map comes with a free account, and you keep it after the trial. Set your truck and trailer size, and trips are planned for that size. Always check posted signs.
